Take Charge

When you’re not used to taking up space, or taught how to ensure your needs are met, speaking up becomes terrifying.

You get warped into this world of ‘what ifs’ and ‘what will’ people say, that fear within you tries to convince you that your thoughts are wrong, that you should speak up for what you want, that people will get upset with you.

All those hold you back from really expressing your needs in all situations in life. It’s terrifying because we are taught to accept what we get and not question it, nor disagree if it’s not what we want.

You start to doubt yourself and even doubt if you’re truly bothered by what it is that you need/want. The first few times you get to practice doing so is scary, your heart beats fast, you worry about how the other person will perceive what you say.

It gets easier, you get more comfortable in speaking up for yourself and what you do and do not like. You take control and lead the way.
